2024 Observations

Weather observations: showering every day the last several weeks, now days under 30 degrees, cooler evenings. Last month, difficult to foliar spray due to heavy rain and hot days.

 

Sightings: dusky orange beetle on lawn; occasional grasshopper on citrus, sage, eggplant, tomato, zucchini; orange and black moths on lawn; tiny butterflies in marigold; hover flies around flowering herbs and small flowers; red wasps eating caterpillars; caterpillars in zucchini and wombok; yellow spiders on zucchini; ants in zucchini flowers; tiny preying mantis on citrus; some aphids on squash, some scale on rosemary.

 

Interventions: catch grasshoppers and caterpillars by hand (feed to chooks), foliar spray dipel and eco oil; calcium foliar spray zucchini for blossom end rot.
