Big heads everywhere
I had tried growing cauliflower before, without any luck. This year, it has been a success!
I started out with seeds in a starter tray around January/February and then transplanted the seedlings into the wicking beds in April. The winter has been fairly cool and no pests have disturbed the plants (as you can see in the photos!). The cauli that has received more sunlight has grown faster and larger, however, the florets began to separate while the head was smaller than the one that received less light!
The cauli that received more light grew quicker, but the head was not as large. |
I have tried to use the leaves as much as possible in curries and stir-fries, and baked. They are too good to waste. The chooks have enjoyed a few as well.
