Introduction to Permaculture

The 12 Permaculture Design Principles

I'd been interested in plants and growing my own vegetables for a few years. Results have been inconsistent, and mostly limited. I considered doing a short course on some sort of gardening or horticulture, but then came upon permaculture. Though tricky to define and too broad to be a science, the snatches of information I found about permaculture online seemed to align with my personal values.

The Introduction to Permaculture short course offered by Northey Street City Farm (NSCF) was a natural starting point. With a foundation on ethics and emphases on using the natural patterns, behaviours and relationships between plants, animals and the environment, I was sold.

This blog will help me track the gradual transformation of our yard, including its garden beds, and document progress, problems and successes of different crops.
